Marvel Casts World’s Tallest Bodybuilder Olivier Richters For Black Widow – LADbible
Olivier Richters – who, standing at an incredible 7ft 2in, is also nicknamed the ‘Dutch Giant’ – only made his break into cinema fairly recently.
While he’s previously had a couple of small film and TV credits, it wasn’t until this year that his big break came, having joined the cast of The King’s Man, which hits cinemas in 2020.
But in an even more impressive move, the Dutch strongman has also now joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe, having shared the huge news on Instagram, where he gushed: “I can finally tell you guys! For the last 3 weeks, I have been in the UK filming my part for the movie: Black Widow (Marvel Studios).
“This year in January, for the first time in my life I started to join castings for movies, who would have thought that I got to start with The King’s Man, then on to Gangs of London (HBO) and now Black Widow (Marvel).
“If someone in 2018 told me my career in the movie industry would start like this, I would have called an ambulance for him.
“It has always been my dream to do something with my size. Can’t wait for all the releases in 2020.”
We don’t know who Richters will be playing just yet, but we do know Scarlett Johansson will be reprising her titular role as Natasha Romanoff, alongside with Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, O-T Fagbenle as Mason, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Rachel Weisz as Melina Vostokoff/Iron Maidenand Ray Winstone in an as-yet-unrevealed role.
Cate Shortland will serve as director.
No doubt Richters’ role will be something that plays on his gigantic stature.
As you can imagine, it takes a lot of food to maintain such a huge physique, and Olivier says he wolfs down seven meals a day, totalling 6,400 calories, 450 of which are protein.
“It’s a constant struggle because every two-and-a-half hours you have to get 1,000 calories in just to maintain this size,” the bodybuilder-turned-actor said on Good Morning Britain recently.
“The human body consumes so much energy and it needs that push from protein.”
Richters also spoke about his role in the upcoming blockbuster, Kingsman: The Great Game, which is due out next year.
Speaking about landing the role, he said: “As a little kid I looked up to Richard Kiel, the actor who played Jaws in James Bond and I never imagined I would be as tall as him because he was also 7ft 2in, so he was one of the reasons I wanted to get into the movie industry.
“I heard that I got the casting for Kingsman about half a year ago. When I heard that I got the role I had tears in my eyes.
“The casting was really intense, I had to show that I could fight and act. It’s due out next February and it will be the prequel to Kingsman.“
