Arc partners with fitness company to aid support programs – Sentinel & Enterprise
FITCHBURG — Orangetheory Fitness in Leominster and The Arc of Opportunity recently collaborated to host a 5K fundraiser.
In total, more than 100 participants, 20 race volunteers, and the Orangetheory team gathered to support The Arc to raise a total of $2,800 from race entry fees, local business partnerships, and individual donations.
All proceeds benefited The Arc’s Family Supports Program, which has provided life-changing opportunities for people with disabilities and their families in North Central MA for 67 years.
Melanie Walsh, owner of the Orangetheory franchise in Leominster and Worcester said: “The ability to participate in road races underscores our purpose at Orangetheory, to help people live a longer, more vibrant life. This 5K created an opportunity for participants to make meaningful connections in our studio and in the community. This event was open to participants of all abilities, with or without a developmental disability. Participants had the opportunity to connect with individuals whom The Arc supports and learn about their many unique talents.”
Mary Heafy, president and CEO of The Arc of Opportunity said: “The Arc is grateful for the partnership with Orangetheory. This event provided people with disabilities an inclusive opportunity in their community and further highlighted that disabilities are not barriers to an active lifestyle. Participants of all abilities cheered each other across the finish line, illustrating the incredible support our community has for people with disabilities, the most vulnerable population in the commonwealth.”
