100% Vegan Hotel Set to Open in Scotland
A compassionate and ethical way of living doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice the sweeter comforts of life. This 100% veganized hotel in the UK will prove the same. From the moment you step inside, until you check-out, rest assured that everything you encounter is ethical and cruelty-free. According to local media outlet The Courier, the hotel is first of its kind in the UK. Saorsa 1875, as the hotel will be called, is set to open by a vegan family. The 26-year-old vegan owner, Jack McLaren-Stewart, with his vegan parents, are embarking on this exciting new venture at a pioneering location in Pitlochry, Scotland.
According to The Scottish Sun, the vegan hotel owners have been renovating the former Birchwood Hotel for the last eight months. The family seeks to create a totally vegan experience at the hotel; catering to the vegans of the Scottish Highlands and the whole country. Speaking about the reasons fueling their cruelty-free venture, the owners said the reasons were more than one. Firstly, due to frustration from the scarcity of options available to vegans in the region. Also, they are driven by their extreme passion for their country. They wanted to ensure vegans (and others) have a cruelty-free experience in the beautiful Highlands of Pitlochry. The owner was quoted as saying-
“We’re Scottish ourselves and like all Scots, we’re intensely passionate about our country and all the amazing things it has to offer.
“So we wanted to create a space where anyone, vegan or otherwise, can come and experience the beauty of the Highlands without feeling like they’re compromising on their ethics.
“It’s one of the most beautiful places on Earth and we’re really excited about opening it up to a whole range of people who might not have otherwise visited.”

All Things Vegan – From Cuisine to Toiletries.
The hotel, Saorsa 1875, not only offers vegan drinks and cuisine, but also in every other possible way you can think of. From food to the furniture – everything will be vegan. According to the reports, the housekeeping items are eco-friendly and not tested on animals. The staff uniforms are also ethically sourced too. Even the toiletries are vegan. What’s more? For electricity, the hotel will run on Ecotricity– a Vegan Society certified source of power. Isn’t that amazing?
Remarking on the excellent new venture planning to open in June, spokesperson of The Vegan Society, Dominika Piasecka, said they’re ‘very pleased’ Scotland is getting a ‘fully vegan hotel’ which will offer a ‘whole lifestyle experience’ sans cruelty. She added, “Knowing that no animal had to suffer for the hotel equipment or cosmetics gives vegans a piece of mind …” Piasecka also noted the undeniable surge of veganism in Britain. She stated, “the number of vegans has quadrupled in the last four years.”
Goes without saying, we need more extravagant, fully vegan hotels and resorts around the world. What do you think? Will you consider your next vacation in such a wonderful new vegan hotel? Let me know your thoughts in comments.
