Vegan Booker Defends Meat, Gets a Belly Laugh – Newsmax
Vegan Sen. Cory Booker defended his stance on dealing with the climate crisis – but drew the biggest laugh of the night by defending meat-eaters.
At the Thursday night debate of Democratic presidential candidates, Booker was asked point blank if more American should just stop eating meat to curb the climate crisis.
“You know, first of all, I want to say, no,” Booker said. “Actually, I want to translate that into Spanish: No.”
The audience burst into laughter.
He then added, “factory farming is destroying and hurting our environment” and claimed that kind of farming is pushing family farmers out of business. He has in the past called for an end to big food mergers.
