Back pain – the spicy cream you should apply every day to prevent lower backache
Back pain is a common condition that usually improves by itself within a few weeks or months, according to the NHS. It could be caused by a minor injury, sleeping in an awkward position, or even by having poor posture. Making changes to your diet or exercise regime are great ways to avoid developing a bad back. But, if you already have back pain, you should consider using cayenne cream, it’s been claimed.
Cayenne cream, which is also known as capsaicin cream, could help to reduce back pain, said physician Dr Joseph Mercola.
Capsaicin is the active ingredient in chilli peppers that gives them a spicy taste, and it can be used on the body to activate certain nerve cells.
Applying the cream to your back could help to get rid of a chemical that transmits pain signals to your brain, he said.
“Back pain is a common health issue today that affects at least eight out of 10 people,” said Mercola.
“If you are already suffering from chronic back pain or pain of any kind, you should understand that there are many safe and effective alternatives to prescription and over-the-counter painkillers, though they may require some patience.
“You only need to address the root cause of the problem by changing your lifestyle and the way you eat and move.
“Cayenne cream – also known as capsaicin cream. This is a spice made from dried hot peppers.
“It alleviates pain by depleting the body’s supply of substance P, a chemical component of nerve cells that transmits pain signals to your brain.”
You could also relieve lower back pain by eating more turmeric, revealed the physician.
Turmeric contains the active ingredient curcumin, which could reduce pain and increase mobility, he said.
Meanwhile, ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory with pain-relief properties. It could help to reduce pain as backache may be caused by inflammation.
Maintaining exercise also helps to relieve back pain, and can prevent it from coming back in the future.
It helps to build strong, flexible muscles that are less prone to injury, whereas prolonged bed rest is likely to make back pain worse.
Left untreated, back pain should get better by itself within a few weeks or months, said the NHS.
For short-term relief, try taking anti-inflammatory painkillers. A pharmacist should be able to help you with over-the-counter treatments for back pain.
Speak to a GP if you have back pain and a tingling round the genitals. It could be a sign of something more serious.
