There’s trash talk, then there’s … whatever you want to call this.
Top-ranked Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight contender, Colby Covington, is trying to pick a fight with just about everyone in the world, regardless of weight class, but then mysteriously disappears when the promotion attempts to book him a title fight.
It appears “Chaos” is unhappy with all the headlines given to longtime welterweight veteran, Nick Diaz, who was previously attached to a Jorge Masvidal fight at UFC 235 in March, before telling the combat sports media that nothing was signed.
Must be too busy doing his thing in “Sin City.”
“He’s trying to keep his name in the headlines, get some media, get a couple of extra Instagram followers,” Covington told BJ Penn Radio. “He ain’t here to fight man, he’s done, he’s washed up. He can’t even fight anymore. When’s the last time he got a win? Like last generation? Last decade? No one gives a fuck about him anymore. He’s out partying in Vegas, doing lines of coke, beating up chicks because he ain’t beating up no guys. That’s all he can do is beat up chicks. So we’ve got the little Stockton, little pussy, ain’t doing shit no more.”
Don’t even get him started on younger brother Nate.
Diaz is no stranger to failed drug tests, thanks to his open policy on smoking weed, but there is no evidence the pride of Stockton has been riding the white horse. In addition, his charges of domestic violence were tossed earlier this year after the district attorney failed to build a credible case.
Covington is still in limbo as the promotion waits to see what happens with Tyron Woodley and his bum hand. In the meantime, expect plenty of additional smack talk from “Chaos” and all the eye rolls that come with it.
