Covington (And His Big Balls) Standing Up To UFC

To all the mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters who’ve been left at the curb for the next round of trash collection, which includes those slighted combatants suing Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), I say to you “no worries” — Colby Covington has got your back.

“Chaos” is going to stand up for all the fighters who don’t have a voice, because when you can sell as many pay-per-view (PPV) buys as “Chaos,” it’s only a matter of time before Darth Shelby and Emperor White wilt under his Chief Joseph-like perseverance.

“I haven’t heard anything from them and I don’t got anything to say to them,” Covington told BJPenn.com Radio. “They know where I stand and they’re not going to get anything out of me ’cause I’m standing my ground, I’m standing up for all the fighters that don’t have a fucking platform. They can’t stand up against the UFC. All the shit the UFC gives them, fucks all the fighters on the pay and just expects you to do things on a drop of a dime when they want it.”

You eat what you kill!

After capturing the interim welterweight title last July, Covington was expected to fight Tyron Woodley to unify the 170-pound straps; however, when the promotion came calling, “Chaos” asked for more time to deal with nagging injuries.

As a result, UFC passed him over not once, but twice.

“All these fighters are yes-men, I’m not a yes-man, I don’t do things,” Covington continued. “When the UFC says to jump I don’t say ‘how high’, I’m not that guy. The UFC knows where I stand and I’m standing up for what’s right. People can hate me, they can love me, but you know I’m standing up for what I believe in and what I earned. In life you can only stand by your word and you gotta have big balls in life and that’s what I got.”

This tweet hasn’t aged well, based on the above comments.

White has agreed to give Covington a shot at the welterweight title, but it’s going to be at a date and location of his choosing. “Chaos” responded by calling him liar and daring White to release him from the promotion.

I guess we’ll find out what the future holds after Woodley and Usman collide at UFC 235.
