Bellator 226 takes place at SAP Center in San Jose, Calif., on Sept. 7, 2019, featuring a Heavyweight showdown that will see Cheick Kongo (30-10-2) put his eight-fight win streak on the line against recently crowned “champ-champ” Ryan Bader (27-5).
Bader and undefeated Flyweight champion Ilima-Lei Macfarlane (10-0) also vied for the title of Celebrity Family Feud champion last night (Sun., Aug. 18, 2019) on ABC. The duo was part of an all-star “Team MMA” lineup that included “Iceman” Chuck Liddell, “The Natural” Randy Couture and Tyron Woodley. Their opponents were “Team Nikki and Brie Bella,” which includes the Total Bellas stars along with their brother JJ Garcia, cousin Lauren Jennifer Garcia, and mother Kathy Laurinaitis.
Both teams played for charity — Team MMA played for the Andy Vargas Foundation, while Team Bella played for The V Foundation/Connor’s Cure.
In the end, the Bellas “knocked out” Team MMA and made it to the Fast Money round, but did not get the necessary 200 points to win big. They still picked up $10,000 for their charity of choice for their efforts.
