Who is Jon Jones?
Jon Jones is a mixed martial artist best-known for being the two-time Light Heavyweight Champion of UFC.
He was born in Rochester, New York on July 19, 1987.
A standout wrestler in high school, Jones hails from a family of athletes, as his elder brother Arthur plays for the Indianapolis Colt and younger brother Chandler plays for the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL.
After dropping out of Morrisville State College in Morrisville, New York to focus on his MMA career, Jones made his professional MMA debut in April 2008. Shortly afterwards, he made his UFC debut in August 2008 and soon established himself as one of the elite fighters in the organization.
Jones later won the Light Heavyweight Championship in March 2011, becoming the youngest champion in the history of the UFC. He successfully defended the title repeatedly but was stripped of it and suspended for nearly six months from the UFC in April 2015 after allegedly being involved in a hit-and-run incident in New Mexico.
After returning to the UFC in October 2015 and being awarded the interim title, he was stripped of it in November 2016 and sentenced to a one-year suspension from the UFC retroactive in July of that year over doping allegations.
Jones won the Light Heavyweight Championship again after returning in July 2017, but was once again stripped of the title shortly afterwards and punished with a 15-month suspension after allegedly testing positive for anabolic steroids.
He’s set to be reinstated into the UFC’s active roster on October 28, 2018.
Despite his legal issues and doping allegations, Jones is still widely seen as one of the best MMA fighters of all time, being ranked as the number one fighter in the world during his championship reign and currently boasting the longest active winning streak in the history of the UFC.

Jon Jones’s return to UFC
Recently, UFC President Dana White revealed that Jones would be able to compete in the MMA league on October 28, but that his anticipated return wouldn’t likely be until early 2019.
‘Beginning of next year. He’s been off for a while. I think he’s a little heavy right now and he needs to start cutting weight and getting back into shape and we should see him early next year,’ White said when asked about Jones’s return on ESPN’s Get Up.
Jones received a 15-month suspension from the USADA after reportedly failing a drug test on July 28, 2017.
White also explained how Jones received a shortened suspension, saying: ‘(USADA) had a third party independent investigator come in and investigate. They investigated and what they believe it was contaminated supplements which is a huge problem right now.
‘You have very few companies that actually make these products and they are putting bad things through the same silos as they are putting the good things through and yeah, it’s contaminated supplements.’
Jones had been rumored to be a headliner at UFC 230 at Madison Square Garden in New York City on November 3, though White’s comments have now cast serious doubt on that speculation.
