Khabib Nurmagomedov’s father claims son will be free to fight Floyd Mayweather from May 4
Khabib Nurmagomedov will be free to fight Floyd Mayweather in a lucrative boxing match from May 4 next year, according to his father Abdulmanap.
Nurmagomedov Sr claims that his son’s contract with the UFC expires next spring, leaving him free to pursue a big-money match-up outside the organisation.
UFC president Dana White has insisted that his lightweight champion would not be permitted, as Conor McGregor was, to fight ‘Money Man’.

Abdulmanap told iZ.ru: ‘A fight with Floyd is possible after the end of the contract with the UFC.
‘This is interesting not only for us, but also for serious investors. This may happen May 4 in Grozny.’
It remains to be seen whether Mayweather would be eager to come out of retirement and back-up his flirtation with fighting Khabib.
He is scheduled to fight an exhibition against Tenshin Nasukawa in Japan on New Year’s Eve.
The Dagestani is still awaiting punishment and probable suspension from the Nevada State Athletic Commission for his role in the brawl after his win over McGregor in Las Vegas on October 6.

The UFC will require Khabib to defend his title, probably against Tony Ferguson
Abdulmanap, who trained his son from a young age and had him fight bears, was alongside Khabib when he was congratulated for his victory Russian president Vladimir Putin and is a key adviser.
He also recently said there would be interest in a boxing match against McGregor rather than rematch in MMA.
It seems Khabib is keen on a foray into boxing too. In a recent press conference he said: ‘For legacy and in the sense of the money aspect, and in a sporting sense, I think the Mayweather fight is much more interesting.’
