Mayweather Insists He’s Not Negotiating Manny Rematch
The ghost that still haunts boxing is the never ending rumors of a Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao rematch.
Mayweather denied a report this week that he was negotiating a rematch with Pacquiao, even though the two have a meeting set in Pacquiao’s home nation of the Philippines.
“Rumors, rumors, Rumors. Mayweather v Pacquiao part two is not true. If you didn’t hear it on FightHype first, then it’s not true,” insisted Mayweather to the aforementioned website.
Mayweather has teased returns numerous times over the past 18 months, including a video with Pacquiao at a Tokyo music festival claiming the two would have a rematch.
That coupled with Pacquiao holding off on a decision to sign a fight with either Keith Thurman or as reported on Tuesday, Danny Garcia for a fight on July 13th.
If Mayweather indeed ends his retirement from sanctioned competition to face Pacquiao, it would see a rematch of the most watched Pay-Per-View in boxing history, where 4.6 million people paid to watch the May 2015 showdown from Las Vegas, Nevada.
